Canada West recap/articles

Victoria is now 5-0 (after a 2-4 pre-season including a trip to Ontario) after Mack Roth hit one of two free throws with no time remaining to give Vikes an emotional 72-71 win over #7 Calgary in Victoria.  Calgary came all the way back from a late 9 point deficit and had a chance to go ahead with a few seconds remaining but 5’11” U.S. import guard David Kapinga could make only 1-2 from the stripe, setting up Roth who was fouled as the buzzer sounded.  6’5″ Dinos guard Thomas Cooper from Chattanooga, Tennessee, who leads Canada West in scoring with a per-game average of 27.8 points, led all scorers with 22 points.

Injury-riddled Saskatchewan fell to 1-4 in Canada West play, defeated at home by UBC Thunderbirds .  Huskies Evan Ostertag is taking on a larger role in the Huskies offense.
