OUA: Gryphons shake off slow start to defeat Stangs

Guelph 81, Western 68  6’5″ Ahmed Haroon and 6’2″ Jonathan Wallace combined for 34 second half points as the Gryphons overcame a late second quarter 8 point deficit to lock-down the Mustangs in Guelph.  With Western leading 29-21 and just 2 minutes remaining in the first half, Guelph closed the quarter on a 12-1 run and then in the third quarter, leading by 1, Gryphs broke it open using 14-2 run led by Haroon and Wallace.  Haroon finished with 26 – 18 in the second half while Wallace had 16 of his 20 (on 8-11 shooting) after the intermission.  Western, which got 28 points and 7 rebounds but 7 turnovers from 6’3″ Greg Morrow, hurt themselves by going just 2 for 19 from 3, which is becoming an ongoing issue for this group which has spent the majority of the early season in the CIS Top 10 but now drops to just 3-5 on the OUA regular season.

Brock 86, Windsor 79  The Badgers won relatively comfortably, going off on a 19-4 second quarter run to build an early 20 point lead to win at home.  Lancers trimmed the advantage to 10 on a couple of occasions before Brock restored the lead and their final run got it to 5 with 53 seconds remaining before Badgers iced it on the free throw line.  Dani Elgadi had 25 and 13 from Brock but did turn it over 9 times while Alex Campbell led all scorers with 26 points on 6-22 shooting.  Windsor drops to 4-4.
