Canada West Tonight: Bears lose Denault

As always, the go-to place for detailed Canada West analysis is Wayne Thomas Canada West Hoops site.  Key match up this weekend is in Winnipeg where Manitoba Bisons host UBC in a battle of two teams generally considered to be CW Final 4 contenders.

Alberta Golden Bears have suffered through a trying season thus far, sitting at just 4-5 and to add to their issues, it was learned earlier today that 6’8″ starting forward Sebastien Denault, a second year player from Montreal has left the school and returned home.  Denault was averaging 10.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game as one of the Bears more important offensive players.  No official word on whether or not Denault will transfer to another school to play basketball but this is a definite blow to Bears playoff aspirations as they get set to host Victoria Vikes (6-4) this weekend in Edmonton.

In other key Pioneer Division match-ups, Lethbridge travels to Saskatoon to meet Saskatchewan Huskies while Calgary Dinos meet Brandon.
