In an anomaly that one would figure more for a baseball setting, Boise State Broncos, an NCAA Division 1 program in the Mountain West conference, has scheduled a basketball doubleheader this evening as part of their Costa Rican tour against a pair of highly-regarded CIS teams tonight.
The “lid-lifter” has the Broncos meet Brock at 5 PM ET and the second game quickly follows at 7 PM ET against uOttawa Gee-Gees. It will be interesting how the Broncos respond to back-to-back games; we hope to have results and a recap later today.
Boise State also has a re-match scheduled with the Gee-Gees on Sunday in Costa Rica.
In other CIS/NCAA games this evening, Carleton host Arkansas Pine-Bluff who have played much of their tour of Canada defending in a zone. CIS opponents rarely if ever deploy zone “d” against the strong-shooting Ravens although Syracuse Orangemen put up their patented 2-3 zone against Carleton both in their game here in Ottawa a few summers ago and then in the return match at the Carrier Dome in 2014. Charlotte meets Trinity Western this evening out west also.
