Gryphons give up 2nd half lead, lose by 11 to Northwestern State

Northwestern State 94, Guelph 83  6’2″ senior Zeek Woodley showed observers why he is one of the more highly touted guards in the entire NCAA with a dynamic showing down the stretch, scoring 8 of his game-high 27 points during the game-deciding 12-1 run to lift Demons over the host Gryphons.  Woodley, who is the nation’s leading returning scorer at over 22 ppg and is on several pre-season All-America lists, showed off his next-level-esque talent as the Demons rallied from a 10 point second half deficit.  The Gryphons dressed 15 players and utilizing each one with no one playing more than 20 minutes or less than 10 as coach Chris O’Rourke played much of the game with 3 shifts of 5 players.  But Woodley took over the game late as the Demons kicked off their tour of Canada with a victory.  The Demons continue their tour of southern Ontario tomorrow at York and also play at Waterloo on Tuesday, culminating their four-games-in-4-days tour on Wednesday evening in Toronto against the Varsity Blues.
