Another strong defensive 2nd half propels Badgers

Brock (3-0) 85, Nipissing (1-3) 54… Breaking open what was a low-scoring 3 point game early in the third quarter, the Badgers forced 29 Laker turnovers and held Nipissing to just 1 for 9 from 3 after halftime and 39.6% shooting overall in pulling away for an easy win to move to 2-0 at the Concordia tournament and 4-0 in the 4th game of their five-games-in-five-days stretch.  Badgers held Nipissing to just 20 second-half points with their athletic stifling “d”, welcoming back 5’11” point guard Tyler Brown who came off the bench with 6 assists in 20 minutes.  6’7″ Dani Elgadi shot an efficient 10 for 16, finishing with a game-high 24 points while 6’2″ Ryan Bennett came alive making all four of his 3 point attempts as Badgers shot 7 for 12 from three and 48.5% overall.  6’7″ Justin Shaver led Nipissing with 12 points and 4 rebounds.  Concordia faces Cape Breton in the second game of today’s draw with the Stingers and Badgers meeting tomorrow afternoon in what many expect to be the tournament championship game.
