Martin’s 3 with 0.5 seconds remaining lifts Lancers

Windsor (2-1) 70, Regina (0-5) 67… 6’2″ Micqeel Martin knocked in a banked three off a broken play with just 0.5 seconds remaining as the Lancers pulled out a last second win despite blowing a 13-point fourth quarter lead.  Martin finished with a game-high 22 points but on just 10 for 27 shooting including 2-10 from downtown – Lancers shot just 7 for 33 from beyond the arc.  5’11” point guard Mike Rocca again produced a valiant effort for Windsor, going 5 for 8 from three-point land despite constant attention, finishing with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals as the spunky, competitive guard from Sarnia, ON continues to display an uncanny ability to lift his team each and every night.  6’1″ Sam Hillis, son of former Regina coach James Hillis, had 10 of his team-high 17 points in the second half as the winless Cougars made a late run but could not close in the wake of the big, somewhat-fortunate shot by Martin.  Windsor also stayed in the game with 16 offensive rebounds and won despite shooting just 38%.  6’4″ freshman Anthony Zrvnar had 10 points for Windsor while Travis Sylvestre went a perfect 7 for 7 from the field and finished with 16 points for Regina.
