UQAM (4-0) 99, Waterloo (0-1) 71… Building leads as large as 36 points in the second half, the Citadins used a 13-2 run late in the first quarter to pull away early and dominate the Warriors. One of the better stories in the CIS has been the development of 6’11” Yassin Debache, who has emerged as a nice inside scoring threat for UQAM after being originally utilized as a rim-protecting rebounder. Debache had 10 early points inside and gives what had been a perimeter oriented group some legitimate size and presence inside. Debache finished with 12 points, one of five Citadins in double figures. 6’5″ freshman wing Nedim Hodzic led all scorers with 20 points in the loss for Waterloo. UQAM plays the 4 PM ET game tomorrow against Manitoba Bisons while the Warriors take on Humber Hawks at 8 PM ET as the tournament continues on Friday.
