St. FX Tourney: X pulls away late to win at home

St. FX 83, Holland College 76… X-Men finished the game on a 9-2 run, getting 9 fourth-quarter points from 6’3″ Julius Antoine in a home win at their own tournament in Antigonish.  Player-of-the-game Akil Charles finished with 16 points, 8 boards and 4 assists while X also got a nice effort off the bench from 6’5″ Justin Andrew who had 11 points.  X-Men did a great job defensively holding the Hurricanes to just 4 for 28 from downtown and will face Saint Mary’s in tomorrow night’s championship game.

Saint Mary’s (4-0) 84, Cape Breton (0-5) 74… The Huskies overcame an early third quarter 7 point deficit, building leads as large as 14 mid-way through the fourth, creating 24 Cape Breton turnovers to win in Antigonish.  6’3″ Kemar Alleyne led 5 players in double figures with 20 points for the Huskies, who shot just 3 for 17 from 3 – all three 3’s from 6’2″ freshman Kordeiro James off the bench.  With the score tied at 53, SMU took off on a game-deciding 24-10 run.  6’6″ Kenny Jean-Louis had a near-triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists while sophomore sharpshooter Jack MacAulay went 4 for 5 from downtown, finishing with 18 points.
