Golden Bears overcome slow start to knock off Memorial

Alberta (2-1) 90, Memorial (1-5) 64… Golden Bears shot 15 for 32 from downtown as 4 players scored in double figures, led by 6’5″ UBC transfer Geoff Pippus (perfect 4 for 4 from 3) in an easy win over the Sea-Hawks.  Memorial got off to a strong 18-11 start but in the words of Coach Peter Benoite “struggled from there…we seem to have 3 or 4 minute stretches where we don’t play well and can’t recover”.  Golden Bears 6’2″ freshman Andre Kelly had 15 points including 3-5 from downtown while Alberta’s combo of 6’7″ Mamadou Gueye and 6’7″ Brody Clarke combined to go 12 for 25 from the floor as the Bears pulled away to win their second straight.  uOttawa and Queen’s will meet at 4 PM ET as the tournament concludes in Kingston.
