Dalhousie (4-1) 70, Concordia (4-2) 69... 6’2″ Kashrell Lawrence‘s put-back as the game ended gave the Tigers an unlikely comeback win over the Stingers in an exciting championship game at the UPEI Mickey Place tournament in Charlottetown. Concordia led by 6 with a minute and a half remaining but the Tigers scored the game’s final 7 points culminating with Lawrence following up his own miss for the win. After Concordia took an early second quarter 9 point lead, the game tightened with several lead changes and no team leading by more than 5 before Stingers finished the third quarter on a 12-3 run to lead by 9 entering the fourth. But Tigers fought back until back to back buckets by 6’0″ Henderson Charles, who played 30 minutes today, gave the Stingers what most thought was the win. But 5’11” Ritchie Kanza-Mata had back-to-back finishes and Tigers held on for the win. Lawrence had game-high 21 points and added 9 rebounds off the bench for the winners while 6’2″ Nicky Noble went 4 for 7 from downtown to lead Concordia.
