Undermanned Redmen handle UBC-O at home


McGill (3-1) 79, UBC-O (0-3) 59… Redmen shot 15 for 39 from downtown including 5 for 11 from 6’0″ fourth-year guard Jenning Leung as McGill led by double digits for virtually the entire final 3 quarters, playing 14 different players in an easy win over the Heat.  With 4 regulars including reigning Defensive POY Dele Ogundokun and former RSEQ POY 6’7″ Francois Bourque in China, Leung took over the leadership role with 13 of his game-high 24 points in the first half when McGill raced to a 16 point lead, making 8 of their 20 3’s with only 8 turnovers.  Redmen held the Heat to just 34% although UBC-O did get a 20+ point lead down to 11 midway through the fourth however Leung stuck a three and 6’0″ Drew Peterson has three 3’s in the second half to allow McGill to win their CIS/U-Sport home opener.  UBC-O takes on undefeated McMaster tomorrow while Redmen meet Laurentian.
