Citadins back in win column, defeat York

UQAM (5-3) 86, York (0-5) 68... 6’6″ Ibrahim Sylla made the first start of his Citadins career memorable with a 22-point, 6 rebound performance including 9-11 shooting as UQAM shook off a lacklustre start to route the Lions, building leads as large as 21.  UQAM won despite shooting a woeful 4-25 from downtown but better than 50% from inside the arc.  6’2″ Greishe Clerjuste shot only 4 for 13 but doled out 9 assists and 6’0″ Charles Miller added 16 but just 2-12 3’s.  Citadins had 20 offensive rebounds in the game and forced 27 York turnovers.  Emerging 6’5″ athlete Jayden Frederick, given a chance to play major, meaningful minutes, appears to be growing into the type of player many envisioned when he began his Lions career, scoring 27 points on 9-16 shooting while operating in and around the paint.  But despite Frederick’s heroics, UQAM handily won this morning’s game, keeping York winless vs. CIS/U-Sport competition this season.
