Lethbridge (4-2) 103, Regina (3-8) 90… 6’4″ U.K. import Elliott Sentance had a career-high 39 points including 22 in the decisive first half as the Pronghorns pulled away early and were never seriously threatened in a home victory against the Cougars.  The slick forward who transferred from Mineral Area Junior College (Park Hills, Missouri) shot 7 for 9 and made all 7 free throws in the first half as Lethbridge broke it open with a 21-10 run to lead by 17 late in the second.  Horns made their first three 3’s of the second half – including a pair by 6’2″ Josh Sparks who was 4 of 6 from downtown after halftime, scoring all 12 of his points – to quickly extend to 21 point lead and led by as many as 25 in handing the Cougars their 8th loss in 11 U-Sport pre-season games.  Regina got it no closer than 12 as Lethbridge now faces Carroll College Saturday night while Cougars get Alberta Golden Bears.  6’4″ Michael Pierzchala added 22 for Lethbridge including going 4-10 from 3 and 9-19 overall from the floor.

UNBC (1-2) 82, Lakehead (2-4) 78… The Timberwolves took their first lead of the game with just over 2 minutes to play in the fourth quarter, coming all the way back from a double digit deficit to shock the Thunderwolves at the UBC Invitational in Vancouver.  5’11” freshman point guard Tyrell Laing led UNBC with 22 points.  6’5″ Bacarius Dinkins had 24 points and 6 rebounds to lead Lakehead and 5’11” Henry Tan added 21.  “Defensively we are not getting it done and offensively we are not making good decisions,” lamented Lakehead Head Coach Manny Furtado.  “The only good thing is this is still non-conference and we have one more game, versus a top 5 team in the country, tomorrow to get on the right track.”  Lakehead meets UBC Saturday night.

#4 UBC (5-0) 96, Laurier (3-4) 63… T-Birds emptied their bench early, taking an early 17 point lead and then extending to as many as 40 early in the fourth in hammering the Golden Hawks in Vancouver.  6’9″ Conor Morgan had 19 points in only 23 minutes while Patrick Simon came off the bench to finish with 17.  6’6″ Jordan Jensen-Whyte had 15 in just 15 minutes as the Hawks shot just 31% in the first half.  6’6″ freshman Nick Broady, a local product from West Vancouver H.S. who was playing before family and friends, led Laurier with 15 points.

#7 Ottawa (4-1) 89, Bishop’s (2-4) 56… Gee-Gees jumped out to a 27-10 lead as 6’2″ McMaster transfer Adam Presutti made his uOttawa debut memorable with a pair of early 3’s in the final game of the night at the Donohue Memorial tournament in Ottawa.  Gaiters were held to just 18 first-half points as Ottawa led by 26 at the half with Bishop’s struggling at the point guard spot according to wise observers.  Bishop’s faces Waterloo while the Gee-Gees host Concordia in one of the best games of the weekend on Saturday night.
