AUS: Memorial forges impressive team win at St. FX

Memorial (3-1) 93, St. FX (2-2) 79… Coming off a 20+ point pounding last night and missing their best offensive threat in 6’9″ Vasilije Curcic, it would have simple for the Sea-Hawks to go through the motions this afternoon against an X team looking to push back into the national rankings discussion.  In what turned out to be a wonderful display of team basketball – aided somewhat by very indifferent X defending and rebounding – Memorial jumped out to a 14 point halftime lead and poured it on in the second half with a decisive win in Antigonish.  Sea-Hawks shared the ball extremely efficiently, finding open lanes to the rim and getting out in transition to hand X a lopsided loss that was not as close as the score indicates – MUN led by 25 with 8 minutes left in the game.  5’10” Davion Parnsalu was instrumental in the win with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists including 16 in the first half when MUN established their imprint on this afternoon’s game.  6’3″ Austin Chambers flashed his athleticism and quick first step finishing with 20 points as MUN shot 53% from the floor and had 23 assists on 34 field goals in a wonderful display of team offensive basketball.  X got a quiet 19 points from 6’7″ Kevin Bercy as the benches emptied early in the fourth.
