Dalhousie (4-1) 83, St. FX (2-3) 63… 6’6″ Sven Stammberger had 9 of his 23 first-half points during a Tigers game-deciding 17-6 run to end the second quarter that built a double digit lead and later Tigers led by as many as 22 in a solid home four-point game win at DalPlex. Tigers did not turn the ball over once in the first half, taking the lead for good at 18-15 on an “and 1″ by 6’9” Ryall Stroud (15 points, 7 rebounds) and extending with selective double teams on ball screens and solid ball “d”. 11 different Tigers hit the score sheet in a game that was over by late in the third quarter for all intents and purposes. Stammberger finished with 29 points while 6’7″ Kevin Bercy had 15 points and 7 rebounds to lead X. X-Men hurt themselves with a 9 for 19 effort at the free throw line and surrendered 18 offensive boards while getting beat 47-35 on the glass. St. FX could never really get into a flow in transition and were kept off the offensive glass for the most part in a workmanlike victory for Tigers. Dal resumes their schedule next Thursday at Acadia followed quickly the next night at UNB. St. FX plays next at Cape Breton next Wednesday night as the two schools renew their spirited rivalry.
