AUS: Carson’s heroics lead Tigers to road win at Acadia

#7 Dalhousie (12-3, 5-1) 75, Acadia (5-8, 4-3) 71… 6’6″ freshman Alex Carson had 10 of his team-high 19 points in the fourth quarter including the go-ahead bucket with just under 6 minutes to play giving Tigers the lead for good in a solid road win in Wolfville.  Carson’s late 3 with about 1 1/2 minutes remaining iced the game after Acadia had made a run on the heroics of 6’9″ Erik Nissen, who had back-to-back baskets that gave Axemen their last lead at 64-63 before Carson took over.  6’3″ Kash Lawrence added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Dal while 5’11” point guard Ritchie Kanza Mata had 11 assists and some clinching free throws late for the Tigers.  Dal was able to keep the hot-shooting Axemen off the three point line for the most part – Acadia shot 8 for 22 from 3, below their averages and sharpshooting 6’1″ guard Nick DePalma was only 2 for 6 but did finish with 19 points.  Nissen led all scorers with 20 points and 11 rebounds.  Tigers now look forward to a road affair on Saturday evening at UNB while Acadia has completed the calendar 2016 portion of their AUS schedule.
