RSEQ: Scorching Redmen blow out Stingers


McGill (8-3, 2-1) 96, Concordia (8-6, 2-2) 56… Redmen blasted out to a 29-2 lead, making their first 9 shots including 6-6 from downtown – knocking down 3’s on 5 consecutive possessions – in a dominating win over the Stingers in front of a sold-out crowd at Love Competition Hall.  6’2″ Dele Ogundokun, freshly back from a FISU 3 on 3 tournament in Qatar and shaking off a rough start to the early season, had a season-high 29 points on 7-10 shooting from downtown and added 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals.  The fourth-year economics student from Hamilton, ON had 7 points during the early run and later knocked down back-to-back 3’s late in the second quarter, part of a 17-4 run that extended the lead to 38.  6’1″ Jenning Leung added 14 points on 4-5 3’s in just 19 minutes as McGill shared the ball (23 assists on 35 field goals overall) and made shots (17 for 32 overall from downtown).  Stingers shot just 27% from the field for the game including 4-17 from three point land.  McGill gets set to face Bishop’s Gaiters Saturday at 4 PM ET in Lennoxville.  Stingers complete the calendar 2016 portion of their season at 2-2.
