Windsor (11-5, 6-4) 78, Queen’s (6-2, 9-9) 77… 6’7″ Luke Allin gave the Lancers the lead for good with a pair of free throws with a minute and a half to play and Windsor thwarted Gaels look at a game-winning shot when 6’2″ Sukhpreet Singh double dribbled with just seconds remaining as Windsor survive an exciting affair at home in front of 1,349 fans. In a game of fantastic runs, Windsor looked to be in complete control up 18 with 4 minutes left in the third quarter when Queen’s went on a 28-5 run to lead by 5 midway through the fourth. But 6’3″ Mitch Farrell (25 points, 5 3’s) caught fire, starting a 7-0 run that began a see-saw of the lead. Lancers had earlier forged to leads as large as 20, ending the second quarter on an 18-0 run, holding Queen’s scoreless for the final 6 1/2 minutes of the half. Lancers made several big, tough shots against a Queen’s zone. But the Gaels tweaked their “d”, switching more frequently, and star 6’6″ forward Tanner Graham had 10 of his game-high 26 points during the third quarter run during which the Lancers went 0 for 8 from downtown. Previously, 6’4″ Lucas Orlita had 8 of his 13 points off the bench as Lancers forged to what appeared to be an insurmountable halftime lead. Singh added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the Gaels with Graham made 6 of 14 threes for Queen’s. Farrell made a triumphant return to the Lancers rotation with a big finish while 5’11” Mike Rocca again had a solid 17 point, 4 rebound, 7 assist line making 4-8 threes in a game during which the teams combined to shoot 26 for 70 from downtown.
