Leung leads McGill’s second half route

McGill (12-4, 6-2) 71, UQAM (8-11, 3-5) 49… 6’1″ Jenning Leung had 24 points, most of which came during a game-deciding 16-0 run off the start of the third quarter as the Redmen pounded the Citadins for the second consecutive night.  Citadins were within 3 points by halftime after a late second quarter run but McGill ensured the game would not be close thereafter.  Redmen threatened to pull away in what for the most part was a listless first half as 6’4″ Avery Cadougan woke the crowd with a vicious dunk, part of a run that gave Redmen a 7 point lead and the momentum.  But 6’6″ Ibrahima Sylla and 6’0″ Misi Boye kept UQAM in it until after halftime.  UQAM ran into a spat of fouls early in the third quarter, getting whistled for 8 of the first 9 all within the first 5 minutes of the quarter.  Citadins also found out today that starting two man 6’0″ Charles Miller will be out 3-6 weeks and he fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.  Miller may yet need surgery which should become clearer after he sees an orthopedist this week.  McGill again played without starting point guard 6’1″ freshman Kendrick Jolin (strained calf) and in the first half lost the services of 6’8″ Noah Daoust who injured his arm and did not return.  McGill held UQAM to just 22% shooting and out-rebounded the Citadins handily.
