An interesting match-up in downtown Toronto tonight as the streaking Ryerson Rams host McMaster with Rams having won 13 in a row and currently on the nation’s second longest winning streak of the season. Rams love to get out in transition and arguably are the most explosive three-point shooting team in the nation. As such, defensive rebounding will be the key and Rams undersized lineup, made even smaller with the loss due to injury of 6’8″ Adam Voll who has missed all 5 post-Christmas games, will need 6’6″ Juwon Grannum and 6’6″ freshman Kevon Small, who has steadily improved all season to keep 6’7″ Connor Gilmore and 6’4″ Rohan Boney off the offensive glass. 6’2″ David McCulloch will likely need to log major minutes and Ryerson has two quality point guards in 6’0″ Myles Charvis and 6’0″ Roshane Roberts to share minutes checking McCulloch. In the end, McMaster will have to find effective match-ups for Ryersons’s two high-end, OUA-all-star-calibre wings 6’3″ Adika Peter-McNeilly and 6’4″ Ammanuel Diressa to be able to keep up with the Rams. After starting the year on a 10 game winning streak, Marauders have dropped out of the top 10, just 4-5 in their past 9 games including an upset loss at home to York on Friday night, a team that Ryerson defeated 69-52 on the road about 10 days ago. Game begins at 8 PM ET at the old Maple Leaf Gardens now the Mattamy Center and is available on OUATV.
