Two games tonight, both in the OUA including the second meeting of the season between two GTA teams as York visits Ryerson. Recall Rams won 69-52 at Tait McKenzie in mid-January, coming back from a 1-point halftime deficit to start the third quarter on a 13-2 run to break it open as 6’3″ Adika Peter-McNeilly had 29 points including 5-10 3’s. Lions turned it over 29 times in that game but out-rebounded the Rams and Lions are getting more consistent production out of 6’10” George Ivens, who started this past weekend and, without 6’8″ Adam Voll, Rams have very little in the way of size to match with the rim-protector. Both teams love to play fast, get up the floor and shoot open threes, so game has the makings of an offensive affair – although the first game lacked that explosiveness.
Winners of five in a row, suddenly-sizzling hot Brock Badgers try to fortify their hold on #4 seed hosting Waterloo Warriors in the only meeting of the season between these two former OUA West rivals. It is not surprise that Brock’s resurgence concides with 6’7″ Dani Elgadi playing his best basketball of the season at both ends, defending the rim, rebounding, finishing inside and out and finding open teammates when being doubled. Elgadi epitomizes Badgers selfless team play of late including 6’5″ dynamo Johneil Simpson‘s energy off the bench among others. Warriors have won just two of their past 9 OUA games and are just 3-11 overall trying to make a late push for a playoff spot.
Both games are on OUA.TV.
