Americans pull away late to defeat Canada at Maccabiah Games

Canada put up a solid effort but the United States pulled away late to win 78-60, dropping Canada to 2-1 at the 2017 Maccabiah Games men’s basketball tournament.  It was a 6-10 point game for much of the match until the Americans pulled away with about 4 minutes remaining and Canada then rested their starters with a view of playing France tomorrow.

The winner of tomorrow’s France/Canada game will advance into the Medal round; note that USA defeated France by 20 earlier in the tournament.

6’3″ Sage Usher led the way for Canada with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists while fellow guard 6’1″ Ave Bross added 16 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.  6’0″ Mor Menashe added 15, 5 and 2 as the Canucks valiantly hung in until late.

Good luck to our Maacabiah Games group as they prepare to meet France with a chance to hit the Medal round in Jerusalem.
