The Bearcats, who begin their tour of Canada tonight in St. Catharines against Brock will have a different opponent on Sunday afternoon than originally scheduled. Binghamton will now face U of T Varsity Blues (instead of McMaster) at 2 PM ET at Kerr Hall (Ryerson).
The Blues are coming off a home playoff win and welcome at least three new faces to their lineup including 6’2″ Jawara Pedican, a transfer from McGill who sat out last season after originally playing high school at Vaughan S.S. Local downtown Toronto native Evan Shadkami (Central Tech) is expected to add perimeter shooting to the Blues lineup and 6’6″ James Miles from Hamilton who originally committed to McMaster in 2013, adds depth to the front line. Toronto will also face Notre Dame College, an NCAA Division II school from Ohio on the following Sunday afternoon.
After tonight’s game, Binghamton remains in St. Catharines for a game against Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks – the first time ever that the Hawks have played a Division 1 team in the summer – before the Bearcats head to Toronto for a Saturday afternoon affair against Ryerson. That game will feature a meeting of coach and player as Rams Head Coach Roy Rana will meet up with Bearcats Assistant Coach Chretien Lukusa, who played for Rana at Eastern Commerce C.I. in Toronto before embarking on a four-year playing career at Binghamton.
Plenty of action in the GTA this weekend highlighted by tonight’s Brock/Binghamton match and tomorrow’s Southern Methodist at Ryerson game.
