The progressive rebuild at Bishop’s continues as coach Rod Gilpin‘s past two recruiting classes have yielded significant young talent that is growing and maturing together, so much so that the staff can selectively add complementary talent to a core that includes 6’4″ Abdul Kamane, 6’1″ Joany Castor-Thadal, 5’9″ Alexandre Boisse, 6’8″ Yassin Naji and 6’6″ Owen Martel.
With the addition of 6’7″ Frenchman Harvey Matou, Gilpin is adding a likely impact wing who North Pole Hoops rates as the #23 player in the Class of 2017. Matou is a native of LeBlanc-Mesnil, France who played last season at Thetford Prep in Quebec. Earlier, Gaiters announced the commitment of 6’7″ Aiden Burns who played prep in Ottawa for Canadian Top Flight Academy.
Gaiters have also scheduled a series of games against NCAA Division 1 opponents through the end of the month of August as follows:
August 20th vs. Canisius at Champlain-St. Lambert 1 PM ET
August 26th vs. Northeastern at Carleton in Ottawa 7 PM ET
August 31st vs. Hofstra at Vanier College in Montreal 7:30 PM ET.
Gaiters are trying to qualify for the post-season for the first time since 2014-15 when Bishop’s was crowned RSEQ champions and pushed #1 uOttawa to overtime in the first round of the Final 8 before bowing.
