Ryerson’s tough road stretch continues

Coming off a pair of losses last weekend in the Nation’s capital including a second-half melt-down at uOttawa on Saturday, Ryerson Rams face another now-critical road affair in Sudbury this evening at second-place Laurentian Voyageurs.  Vees have built an exciting, athletic group that, like the Rams, loves to get up and down the floor and with both rosters dotted with strong GTA talent, expect a high-scoring, transition-oriented game.  Laurentian hopes to have 6’2″ Kadre Gray back this evening after the star guard missed last Saturday’s home OT victory over Queen’s.  Gray and Ryerson’s dynamic 6’5″ Ammanuel Diressa may be the two best pure offensive talents in the country.

Rams fortunes at uOttawa turned shortly after underrated 6’8″ center Adam Voll left the game in the second quarter with what appeared to be some type of head injury.  Ryerson was already without impact 6’6″ forward Keevon Small and emerging 6’0″ freshman Zubair Seyed, who injured his knee over the holidays.

Tonight’s game is available on OUA TV at 8 PM ET (assuming one can survive watching the “Train for Grain” commercial for the umptheenth time – viewers have thus far had to wait through this minute long commercial each time a switch to watching another game occurs).

#1 Carleton is at Queen’s tonight in another key OUA East game.  Maybe the most interesting game in the West has Windsor on the road for the third consecutive game at Waterloo where Warriors are riding a four game winning streak.  Key match-up in that one could be at the point with 5’10” Mike Rocca going up against 6’1″ Simon Petrov.

In the AUS, Memorial is at Dalhousie, Saint Mary’s at UPEI and first-place UNB is in Sydney at Cape Breton Capers – all three of these games are the lid-lifters of weekend double headers that conclude on Saturday.

Canada West has Regina Cougars at first-place Alberta and UBC – idle last week – at Lethbridge which continues to battles injuries, specifically to their 6’0″ All-Canadian candidate Dejon Burdeaux.
