AUS Saturday night: Nissen beats buzzer

Acadia 75, St. FX 73… 6’10” Erik Nissen hit a dramatic fade-away baseline jumper with just under 3 seconds to play to lift the Axemen to a dramatic win in front of more than 1,200 fans in Wolfville.  Nissen finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds and resounding 9 blocked shots.  6’7″ Kevin Bercy had 22 points and 12 boards in a back-and-forth affair with 6’0″ Davonte Provo adding 20 points and 7 assists.  X shot just 2-21 from downtown but stayed in the game despite another solid all-round game from Acadia’s 6’3″ main decision maker Ben Miller (19 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals).

Saint Mary’s 84, UPEI 67… 6’3″ Kemar Alleyne had a career-high 31 points, taking over in the absence of fellow senior 6’8″ Osman Barrie with 18 second half points as the Huskies closed the game on a 21-4 run, started by an “and 1″ by 6’6” Brent Martindale which broke a 63 all tie with just under 6 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.  Panthers shot just 4-23 from downtown for the game, getting 13 points from 6’2″ freshman guard Moshe Wadley.  6’6″ Nikita Kasongo rebounded from his first non-double digit scoring game of the regular season with 21 points and 9 rebounds for the Huskies.
