More NCAA vs. U-Sport Action confirmed


Thanks to the great work of John Dangelas and JD Sports, U-Sport men’s basketball summer calendars are filling up with games against visiting NCAA programs.  Here are the latest confirmations:

Southern Methodist University (SMU) … The Mustangs, defending American Athletic Conference champions, come off a 30-5 season in 2016-17, dulled somewhat after a first-round loss to USC Trojans in the NCAA tournament.  Mustangs welcome 6’8″ Isiaha Mike, a native of Scarborough, ON, as a transfer from Duquesne.

Tuesday, Aug. 8th at McGill in Montreal (scrimmage) then to Toronto for games to be announced shortly.

St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers…  4-27, 2-16 last season in Northeast Conference

Siena Saints… 17-17 overall lost in MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) tournament championship in OT to Iona.  Saints feature Canadian 6’3″ Kadeem Smithen (Thornhill Thornlea) who averaged about 14 mpg last season including 10 starts.

Hofstra Pride…  15-17 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Coach Joe Mihalich spent 15 seasons as Head Coach at Niagara College Purple Eagles in Buffalo.

Ramapo College (New Jersey, D3)… Ramapo is a top end NCAA Division III program out of New Jersey that annually competes for the DIII championship.

Monday, August 28th  at uOttawa 7 PM.

There are one or two other schools with tentative plans to travel north.  We will share these schedules as soon as we get them.
